My favorite part about this class was the freedom we had on the projects and how we were able to use are own original ideas. Something I didn't like was blogging about every project we did, because it was just a lot of writing in one semester.
My favorite project was the final news story package. This was my favorite project because we got to create our own story, choose what shots we were going to use choose who we were going to interview and it was just a lot of freedom. One thing I would of liked to have been done differently is maybe starting to have freedom a little bit earlier, but it is understandable why we weren't given freedom earlier. I would be interested in doing Broadcast Tech ll because I think there would be a lot of freedom in that class and I feel like we would be able to go even deeper on some topics we dint go as deep into.

For my final news package I did a story over Kelsey Towey, the athletic trainer at Ladue Horton Watkins Highschool. For this final story I put together all of my knowledge and used it for one final story. I used my voice over techniques, the rule of third technique and various different shots to help enhance my story. The overall project took me about two weeks and consisted of interviews with both Kelsey, and Ladue track and field athlete Dee Nicholas. This as by far the best assignment we have had all year and it was a great way to end the semester.
In my interviewing an expert project I learned a lot of new tools that could help me construct a great interview. In this project we were not supposed to ask a question but to say "can you tell me." I also used the over the shoulder technique in this interview to get a better angle. I filmed Hannah harder in this video, to me she is an expert flute player and she explained her love for the flute in my interview. We filmed in the band room because it went with my whole interview and really brought it together. I overall liked this interview because it brought together all the techniques we learned in the interviewing video, and I would definitely want to do something like this again. Today in class, we watched a video over how to use proper techniques in a interview, how to set up a interview and how to be comfortable in a interview. In a interview the little things matter a lot like where the interviewer and the person being interviewed are sitting, where the cameras are placed, and the type of questions you ask. When asking questions in a interview try and make a connection with the person you are interviewing. When asking a question try and go into depth with the questions you ask and always remember to ask at the end,"is there anything else to add." The more comfortable the person being interviewed is, there is a more likely chance that they will open up and give you more in depth answers. When filming always use the rule of thirds, and make sure the person being interviewed has the proper look, and is looking in the right direction. While interviews can come off as easy to some, there is actually a lot of little things that you need to have a great interview.
Before I started filming the 6 word story, I first created my own personal six word story, which was "Talent is given, Hardwork is achieved". After I created my six word story I had to make a storyboard over how my shots would look, and the type of angles I was going to use. Then we went out to film. The whole filming process took us 2 class periods. After I filmed I went in to edit. The editing only took about 30 minutes. This was by far my favorite project because we go to choose what are story was based off of. For this assignment, Bryce and I went to the library to take a series of shots. We chose to take the shots on the broadcast tech cameras, but you could also use your phone or you iPad for this project. We were told to take 19 different shots and then write blog post, including 6 of the shots below. The 19 shots overall were easy, but were very time consuming, and took most of the class period. In the end this project gave me a lot of new information on different types of shots.
Ernest Hemingway, also known as the creator of the 6 word story was an American writer, most of his work was created between the mid-1920s and the mid 1950s. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954, throughout his writing career he published seven novels, six short stories , and two non-fiction works. One of his most famous works was his 6 word short story Baby Shoes. For more information on Baby shoes, and 6 word stories, I found this website very helpful. Along with Baby shoes I found multiple 6 word stories that were very touching like T.H.C., L.S.D., D.U.I., C.P.R., D.O.A., R.I.P. The 6 word story has became a movement a is now a way to express yourself in the 21st century.
In this project, Mr. Goble asked us to go out in the school and create a story using 6 different shots known as WALLDO. WALLDO consists of wide, angled, low, linking, depth and opposite shots. This project took me two class periods and overall the project was fairly easy. After I completed all my shots I went into Final Cut Pro and finished editing. In my project I focused on a fellow classmate Bryce Degraw. This project was very fun and I am starting to enjoy final cut pro more and more.
For the scavenger hunt/final cut pro project, m group and I were given an assignment to go around the school and take ten shots of different things. After the first ten shots were taken, we received feedback from Mr. Goble , and we went back out to retake some of the videos. After that process we started to edit in Final Cut Pro. We edited all our videos, added titles to them, and even added music. I didn't have any major problems with this project and I would definitely recommend it. Overall I really enjoyed this particular project, because allowed me to have freedom with my videos, and my editing.
